Article on the translator's free tools

Traduire 224

The issue 224 of Traduire, the SFT's journal, contains an article (in French) from yours truly on the translator's free (libre) tools.

The translator's free tools, an ecosystem to tame

For numerous translators, the Computer-Aided Translation tools are now everyday tools, similarly to the word processor and the web browser. Mentioning free software in this category frequently raises questions on the mandatory use of Linux, or on the fact that it's free of charge. This article attempts to answer these questions, and presents some of these applications: OmegaT, CAT software, Okapi, a set of tools dedicated to localisation and translation, and bitext2tmx, bligner and LF Aligner, three alignment applications.
